DIABETIC RETINOPATHY

Early diagnosis to protect your vision against diabetes.

What is diabetic retinopathy?

Diabetes disrupts the normal vascularization of the retina, causing fluid leakage (macular edema) and sometimes causes blood vessels to grow abnormally, causing hemorrhages.
Retinal damage due to diabetes is the most common cause of blindness in the working population (aged 20 to 74). When a patient is first diagnosed with diabetes, up to 20% show signs of this eye condition.
Fifteen years after diagnosis, 50% of diabetics suffer from diabetic retinopathy, and in patients with type 1 diabetes with more than 30 years of history, 100% show signs of diabetic retinopathy.

Symptoms

• Blurred vision: decreased central vision (distance vision and reading ability are reduced).

•Distorted visio: straight lines appear wavy.

•Spotty vision: internal bleeding in the eye can cause the appearance of spots that partially or even completely obscure vision.

Diagnosis
People with diabetes should have regular checkups, even if they don’t have symptoms. Self-assessment is very important in this regard.

Treatments

Intravitreal antiangiogenic (anti-VEGF) therapy, intravitreal corticosteroid injections, laser therapy, and retinal surgery are the treatments used in the management of diabetic retinopathy.

At PRESBIT, we believe that early diagnosis and treatment of diabetic retinopathy are extremely important. Identifying patients at risk and establishing a preventive and monitoring regimen helps prevent blindness caused by this disease.

We have the most advanced technology for the early diagnosis and treatment of various complications of diabetic retinopathy.
