Specializations in Clinical Ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Florida, USA; in the Orbital and Oculoplastic Unit at the Hospital Xeral de Galicia in Santiago de Compostela; and at the Barraquer Clinic in Barcelona in orbital pathology and ocular motility.

Most of her career was spent in Havana, Cuba—at the Hermanos Ameijeiras Clinical Surgical Hospital in Galicia. She also combined stints in Havana as an assistant professor with stints in Mexico at the Medical-Surgical Retina Unit.

Participation in both national and international research and development projects, such as research and treatment of uveal melanoma, as well as work on research and development related to orbital pathology—particularly in the field of onco-ophthalmology—both of which were conducted in Havana, Cuba.

Publication of scientific papers on various clinical studies in national and international specialized journals and books in Spain and the Americas, such as:

• Pars plana vitrectomy for CEIO removal.

• Conjunctival epithelial autotransplantation for primary pterygium.

• Surgical treatment of epimacular membranes.

• Diabetic retinopathy, among others. Co-author of several books on Orbital Pathology published in 1997, 1999, and 2002, and Diabetic Retinopathy , published in 2006 by Edika med.
